This is the longplay of the game Castlevania – Harmony of Dissonance (commonly abbreviated as HoD), a platform / action / rpg game created by Konami for Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance. It was first released in Japan in 2002 titled Castlevania Byakuya in Concert and is part of the Castlevania series. The game takes place in the year 1748, introducing Juste Belmont, the grandson of Simon Belmont and a member of the legendary Belmont vampire hunter family.

The game revolves around three main characters: Juste Belmont vampire hunter and grandson of legendary Simon Belmont, Lydie Erlanger, a young Transylvanian girl, has been kidnapped and taken to a mysterious castle in the fog and Maxim Kischine, a vampire hunter swordsman and friend of Juste.

Juste and Maxim need to come in and join forces to rescue Lydie. As they enter the castle, Maxim begins to act strangely. His memory and behavior become strange and he gradually remembers that he has been to this castle. Maxim feels he has something to do with Dracula. In the end, Maxim recalls that two years ago went on a journey to find and destroy Dracula’s remains, as Simon Belmont had done before, but as he collected the six items, his memory was totally erased, and Lydie kidnapped.

It is now up to Juste Belmont to traverse Dracula’s castle and free Maxim and Lydie from the vampire’s clutches and his minions.

Castlevania – Harmony of Dissonance follows the same Metroidvania style enshrined in Symphony of The Night. Juste Belmont has the whip, secondary weapons (holy water, dagger, cross, holy bible, sacred fist, ax) and these weapons can be combined with magic books to get spells. Unlike its predecessor, Castlevania HoD has money to buy items from a merchant, has armor and items that can be obtained by destroying enemies and two castles (A and B), which share a bond, for example, the destruction of a wall of one castle can cause a change in the other. The gameplay is very good and agile, the graphics are more colorful and detailed than in Circle of The Moon, but the music is unfortunately quite simple and generic for a Castlevania game. Still it is an excellent game.

In addition to equipment and consumables (potions, magic items, antidotes), there are also retro furniture pieces to supply an empty room in the castle.

The video was made with all three endings: first the middle end, then the bad end, and lastly the best end (where it is necessary to collect all Dracula relics, face Maxim in Castle B with MK’s Bracelet and JB’s Bracelet equipped).
The entire video was made by exploring both areas of the map and collecting all the castle furniture. Hope you like it.
